View Article  Do Something Different Day
Lauren and I headed over to Flegg High School today to take part in the Martham Village "Do Something Different Day." It was a great event - they had drumming, circus skills, sports, games and Shelly Telly fun film-making and lots lots more. We'd intended to have film-making workshops on the half-hour but people tended to wander in and that worked out lovely. I connected my camcorder to Ruth's fabulously huge plasma screen and played with the special effects. We taught them how to disappear and Lauren took everyone's pic with the Polaroid so they had a sticker to take away. I also gave out some Action caps so the children would advertise the workshops as they did different activities around the site. One young lad was so fantastic with the equipment that he even managed to edit a little film of his dad. They took away some Shelly Telly quizzes which reminded me I once had an idea to produce a little book of puzzles - "Take a Break with Shelly Telly." It could be my break into the publishing industry! Would love to create a fab little book about community film-making with all the tips and tricks I've learnt and devised over my first 10 years in business.

Tonight I beat Ruth Bullard in our Table Tennis match against Newton Flotman B. It was a momentous occasion. We've been in the league for four seasons now and rarely get many points. But we have maintained our good humour and invested in our coaching with the talented twins Martyn and Richard Stevenson. Ruth has beaten me regularly and ruthlessly so it was fab to win at last in an exciting 5-setter. She took her defeat with good grace and still booked me for some filmmaking at Flegg. What a professional!

My old mate Stella asked me to film the Attleborough Gateway Party tonight at the Town Hall. I've known Stella for 16 years - since I came to Norfolk to be the Mencap District Officer. It was a great evening: people had so much fun and the entertainer got everyone singing and dancing. I got a couple of the youngest party-goers to help me with the filming - they loved the Flip camcorders.

Jo and I set off to Aylsham today to do some filming at Wendy's Housing Conference. She wants to do a Video Report for the Housing Group so we'll include footage from today with some people's stories. Wendy is great at taking loads of photos and produces a colourful, accessible newsletter so we'll have no problems combining it all to make a really good DVD.
