View Article  Get Involved creatively
Fab day today at the Supporting People "Let's Get Involved" conference. Jo D and I led a workshop called "Creative Involvement." I showed the DVD Jo and Lisa made for me about Shelly Telly and once again marvelled at how effective a short film can be for getting across loads of information really quickly. We had lots of fun with the Flips and I got each of the two groups to film 5 tops tips for creative involvement. I then edited these together in the break and we showed the 10 Top Tips at the end of the conference. Unfortunately we couldn't get the sound to work so I turned it into a game and asked people to guess what the tips were which led to some hilarious suggestions. Nick and Oz were there from the Human Library running a workshop - they're interested in us making a film together and were impressed by what we achieved in such a short amount of time. I can't wait to make a film about the Human Library - I LOVE the concept of people learning about diversity by chatting to Human Books and I know there's some fantastic stories to be captured.

Had a wonderful week away in our little caravan in Cornwall with friends :)
View Article  Partnership Board filming
Have had a fun few days chasing round the county filming people for the Partnership Board DVD Report. It was lovely to meet David again who worked with me on the "Top 10 Tips for Going into Hospital DVD" he talked about what it was like when his son went into hospital and the help given to them by Tristan, the Liaison Nurse for people with learning difficulties. I filmed Tristan herself on Thursday and was really pleased she managed to persuade one of her nursing colleagues to do a bit of acting for us on an empty training ward. I spent Friday afternoon with the wonderful Victor Hall who talked about his Health Book and how he keeps all his vital information in it.

Today was the first ever Disability Pride in Norwich, organised by Ann Young and her team from the Norfolk Coalition of Disabled People - NCODP. I was at the Forum bright and early to see Andrew and all my friends in D4Dance on Millennium Plain. They were delightful! very entertaining. I loved the film the Youth Forum made for FUSION and Johny Crescendo's songs were very rousing. He had a great song about Pride with a chorus "strong, angry and proud!" that everyone sang along to. Vince performed his poetry and was fantastic as ever and he and Ole had some artwork in the exhibition. It was a great day.

Action Crew member Carol Barber celebrated her 60th birthday today with a Tea Party at the Tea Lounge. She told me I was in charge of music! I booked Eileen Mascoll from Great Yarmouth to do a set. Eileen was brilliant! She is originally from Jamaica and once sang with Bob Marley. She was absolutely lovely with Carol and her friends and did a great job entertaining everyone. We all sang along and Christine, Carol's carer, was even up dancing. There's never been a Tea Party like it!
